Pre-paid Funeral Plans
None of us like to think about the fact that we are not going to be here for ever, and people don’t want to talk about funerals, but how do you think your family would cope if they were suddenly left with a big and possibly unexpected funeral bill. Funeral costs have risen above the rate of inflation. In 2006 the average cost of a funeral was £2225.00 and by 2011 this had risen to £3368.00. It is anticipated that if they continue to rise at this rate, in only four years the average cost of a funeral will be £5,000.
During the summer you may recall the programme aired on the television about the Co-operative funeral service and the practices that go on in some of their funeral homes. I was away on holiday when this programme was aired so was not aware of the content, although I heard an awful lot about it. I did eventually watch it on iplayer, some weeks later. It did not do the funeral industry any good, and most certainly raised concern with families.
