Countdown to Christmas - Day 8
The tradition of Advent Calendars began in Gemany in the late 1800's and their popularity soon spread throughout Europe.
Countdown to Christmas - Day 7
It is some time since I have been to see a ballet, but one of my favourites is the The Nutcracker.
The ballet is based on the story "The Nutcracker and the King of Mice" written by E.T.A. Hoffman. Although what is seen on the stage today is quite different in detail from the original story, the basic plot remains the same. The story of a young German girl who dreams of a Nutcracker Prince and a fierce battle against a Mouse King with seven heads.

Some of you will know that I am not very good with plants. In my house they either die because they are over watered, or they die because they are bone dry. There doesn't seem to be any middle ground. So you can imagine my surprise when I went in to my conservatory last week and saw my Christmas Cactus plant in full bud ready for Christmas.
Countdown to Christmas - Day 5
Christmas is such a special time, especially for those of us who have little children in the family. Many feel that it is over rated, expensive, and only lasts a day. Well yes I suppose it is all of those things, but in this time of living life in the fast lane, perhaps it is good just to slow down and spend time with those we love for just one day.
Countdown to Christmas - Day 4
So what was your memory of Christmas as a child? One of my special memories was watching "The Snowman" on the television, usually on Christmas Eve afternoon.
Countdown to Christmas - Day 3
December 3rd - Having left the tree overnight I was pleased to come home from work to find it had settled and the branches where now where they should be. It's a taller skinnier tree than we normally have, but having paid "top" price for it at the garden centre, I thought we had better make the best of it.
