Earlier this month I read about the devotion of pets to their owners.
First there was the story of the dog who lead the funeral cortege of his elderly owner in to the crematorium in Bury St Edmunds, but the story that really brought a lump to my throat was the one of Ciccio a 12 year old German Shepherd, who even two months after his owners death turns up every day to the church where she used to attend. He then sits and waits in vain in front of the alter of the Santa Maria Assunta Church in the village of San Donaci in the southern region of Puglia.
Memories are made of this - Memorial Diamonds
Earlier this year I met a lovely lady by the name of Anita Bolton. Anita is the Operations Manager
of a UK based company called Heart in Diamond, who create diamonds from the hair or cremated
remains of people or pets. I was interested to find out how she got involved in the process of
creating these precious diamonds and so here is her story……
Can you imagine!
A woman from Philadelphia has shown up alive 13 days after her family buried her body following an emotional service.
Funeral of Dutch Prince
Flags in the Netherlands hung at half-mast yesterday as the Dutch royal family gathered for the funeral of Prince Johan Friso who died on Monday.
What can I do with the cremated remains?
Many people have not even given it a thought. They are so pre-occupied with arranging the funeral that when the question “What would you like to do with the cremated remains of ………..”, comes along, we very often hit a stumbling block, and many a blank face. “I’ve no idea” is a common answer. “What happened to your Mum or Dad’s cremated remains?” we may enquire, – Often, following an embarrassed silence, we get - “They’re still in the bottom of the wardrobe! ”
Graduation Day - July
Last week we were fortunate to have the second university graduation in our family. My youngest daughter gained her degree from Nottingham Trent University. The weather was extremely kind, in truth it was probably too hot for graduation gowns (particularly as we funeral directors know, black is not the best colour to wear when the sun is scorching!).
